making the butterfly
- Fold the work in half (wrong sides facing) and then wrap the chain around the work connecting at the base of the chain with a slip stitch and then tie off.
- Take a piece of yarn about 2 inches in length and tie a knot on each end. Slip the yarn under the chain and then move into desired place.
- You can now sew on a brooch fitting or alternatively attach a safety pin in order to turn into a brooch furthermore, you could sew it on another project!

Thank you so much for posting the video it was very instructive and clear. I found the written directions to be confusing and not at all like the video instructions. I love this little butterfly the way the video shows.
Hi Dianne, it has recently been brought to my attention that there is a mistake in the written instructions so I’m really sorry for any confusion. I will correct this asap. I’m glad you found my video tutorial helpful
Just to note – your pattern says ch 2, tr crochet into circle 7 times, but in your video you say that you’re doing ch2 and then 2 tr crochets into the circle, and that you should end up with 8 sets of 2 tr at the end of the first round. The pattern as currently written doesn’t do that. Thank you for the great tutorial video though!
Thank you for bringing this to my attention – it looks as though there is a mistake with the written instructions which I will have corrected asap. I’m glad you enjoyed the video tutorial
Hi,
Is there any chance there’s going to be a left-handed version of this video? I tried following along to this version, but my butterfly looks a little sad.
Thanks!
Hi, I’m confused your saying treble but your doing double crochets ? Thank you !
Hi Linda I work in UK terms, so a UK treble is a US double, (it does actually tell you this in the video). Good luck with your butterfly 🙂
Oh ,sorry I didn’t realize till I played your video at the very beginning you do say treble is a double in USA . Thanks again for the cute butterfly pattern ! I would like to mention that two years ago when I was just learning to crochet by watching videos you were the one who taught me a lot cause you were so easy to follow along with ! So thank you so much for doing these videos Stay safe !

Hi Debra You are very welcome 🙂
I see your video tutorial and writte pattern here. Do you have a printable version?
Hi Gina we don’t have a printable PDF for this patter at this time 🙂
Just a FYI, the converter from UK to US does not work. I tried like 3 times to change it, but no dice. I figured I would let you know so it can be fixed.
Hi Jessica, are you looking on the blog post? I’ve just double checked this and it does seem to be working – maybe you could try again:)
